The Truth Behind Interventions

When many hear the word intervention, their imagination gets the best of them. Depending on what they’ve seen in media or what they’ve encountered themselves, an intervention can mean many different things. But what is actually true? What is the true point of an intervention—and can you fail at one?

An intervention is a carefully planned process, including family and/or friends, designed to cause behavior changes or improve the health of the person the intervention is directed towards. Some refer to it as “being shown the light” in their addiction treatment, both by those who love them and by professionals who are trained in intervention attempts.

Join Lee FitzGerald, CADC-I, CIP, Nanette Zumwalt, ICADC II, and Brad Warner, LCSW-R, for an open conversation about what interventions entail and what the role of an interventionist is. Whether interventions are new to you or you’re familiar with them, this conversation will provide new insights and benefits to intervening.

This webinar is being hosted by McLean Hospital. Founded in 1811, McLean Hospital is a leader in psychiatric care, research, and education and is the largest psychiatric teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
