Social Media & Suicide Prevention

When COVID-19 hit we heard that there was a chance that suicide rates would increase. We know that economic constraints can lead to suicide as well. And with the racial disparities (both at the hands of law enforcement and within the medical system) we have seen a steady stream of difficulty, trauma and suffering.

The question is, will suicides increase? We know that these times are difficult but what might the impact on mental health and suicide be? Join us as we try to unpack all of this and provide a few tips for how we can help instead of hurt via our own social media.

Can you save a life with a social media post in the midst of all of the noise, chaos and negativity? Research says "yes"!

This event is being hosted by HealthWest, which provides a variety of training for the community on topics like suicide prevention, mental health, trauma, substance use, working with the LGBTQ population and many more.
