Identifying And Helping Those Struggling on Your Team

Define the Line and Grooop hosted a 3-part panel series with health experts, HR professionals, and organizational leaders who are paving the way in the mental health sector. During this session, they focused on how to integrate technology and resources to help your team, how to identify when employees may need help, and strategies for supporting your team and their mental health.

Speakers:

Melissa Barker is the Founder & CEO of The Phoenix Project, a social impact startup in the Bay Area. As a survivor, Melissa knows firsthand how hard healing can feel at times and wanted to create a space where all can have access to high-quality healing and mental health care. Unable to find such a place during her own healing journey, Melissa decided to build it. Phoenix is a caring digital community that supports mental health and wellness—anywhere, anytime.

Miss United States 2018-2019 is Andromeda Osam Peters, being crowned as one of the first African beauty queens to hold a national pageant title in the US, making history. Andromeda touts a Master's Degree in Social Work and Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Theatre and is a licensed clinical therapist and life coach. She focuses on building her name in the industry to be known as an educated model and actress who advocates for body positivity and success through self-love.

Ariel Jordan serves as the Director of Operations at The Phoenix Project. Ariel comes from a health, nonprofit management, research and social work background approaching her work through a trauma-conscious lens. She is passionate about acknowledging, addressing and eliminating disparities, particularly those in health and education.

Melisa Yatman is a strategic HR Professional experienced in all aspects of people and culture. Having earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational psychology, Melisa has deep expertise in guiding and influencing leaders to improve their organizations through the creation of innovative programs. Skilled at building meaningful relationships across all levels and functions of an organization to initiate positive change, Melisa is passionate about talent development and customizing creative HR experiences that align with the growing and changing needs of a business.

Shannon Guilmette is trauma-focused therapist in the District of Columbia. She is a licensed graduate social worker with a focus in clinical behavioral health. Shannon's passion has been assisting adult survivors of developmental trauma and complex post-traumatic stress disorder to heal through a bottom-up approach starting with somatic experiencing up to cognitive restructuring. Her main objective in her work is to help survivors to find a purpose to their life and joy, two things that are often inhibited by trauma.

Nina Barnett is the CEO and Founder of Ninz inc. operating under the DBA, grooop. Nina realized safety is something that should be worked towards, rather than defend against. Nina is a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 2019 graduate with a degree in Physics and Acting with a Mathematics minor. She is a proud member of the Female Founder Collective, a Vital Voices Leadership Incubator Fellow, Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur Nominee and Finalist, and most recently one of FLIK’s 21 Womxn Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2021. She is also a stand-up comedian in New York City performing at notable venues such as Gotham Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, and more.
