Peer-Led Support Group Facilitator Training

Are you interested in running a peer-led support group, or currently running a group and want to learn new facilitation skills?

Mental Health America (MHA) is providing this free, 60 minute training on topics including:

  • Group agreements about the basic rules or format of the group
  • Facilitation skills
  • Conflict resolution and working successfully with disruptive members
  • Problem solving
  • Boundaries
  • Confidentiality Effective communication
  • Facilitator self-care Handling crisis situations
  • Following up with members who stop attending
  • Various formats (curriculum based, topic focused, or open forum)

Patrick Hendry will be leading this training. He has worked as a mental health advocate for the past 29 years. Patrick received MHA's highest honor, the Clifford W. Beers Award in 2012, and a SAMHSA Voice Award and Eli Lilly Reintegration Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. He is the former Executive Director of the Florida Peer Network and has assisted in the development of numerous peer-run programs and organizations.

Mental Health America is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and promoting the overall mental health of all.
