Career Recharge: Managing Work Stress

At the third Thriving in the 2021 Workplace series workshop, join Career Recharge to discover effective strategies for managing work stress.

This event is in support of Bell Let’s Talk Day, helping build awareness and acceptance around mental health in Canada. This workshop is led by Caroline Larocque, Dr. Sonia Dhawan and Cindy Lau-Chan from Seneca’s Counselling and Accessibility Services.

About the Facilitators:

Caroline Larocque is a Masters-level registered social worker with 10 years of experience working with post-secondary students at both the college and university level. In her current role at Seneca College - Counsellor: Sexual Assault & Advocacy, she provides trauma-informed counseling support to students with lived experience of gender-based violence. Caroline has experience working with diverse and complex cases including violence risk, mental health crises, disability, suicide, housing insecurity, conflict with the criminal justice system, and other issues in need of case management intervention. She is a compassionate and dynamic educator, who adores her students and is continuously in awe of them.

Dr. Sonia Dhawan is a clinical psychologist who has been working with students at Seneca College's Counselling and Accessibility Services office for 21 years now. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Queen's University and has specialized in working within the post-secondary field as it is such a critical stage in terms of development and mental health. She now has a daughter who is in university and can see the stress of studying online up close and personal.

Cindy Lau-Chan has a Masters in Education specializing in Counseling Psychology and an undergrad in Social Work. She is a registered psychotherapist who has been working with students in the postsecondary setting for the past 8 years in mental health, accessibility and running PEERS, a social skills program for students on the Autism Spectrum. Prior to that she worked in Children's Mental Health for 13 years with families and children with moderate-severe disabilities and issues. She enjoys working from a student/client-centered approach to ensure that a student can be successful in their studies.
