Leslie Adams’ research examines relationships between discrimination, mental health prevention (depression and suicide), and mental health services utilization using a mixed methods and community-engaged approach. Particularly, Dr. Adams explores the intersections between gender norms, racism, and mental health service disparities among Black men. Her research agenda also focuses on comparative, cross-cultural mental health research among individuals of African descent with an emphasis on those residing in the United States and South Africa. Dr. Adams received her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2018 and her Master's in Public Health from the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice in 2013.
